I am working on an activity for our annual Christmas Staff Meeting, and one of the things we are going to do is discuss in small groups some of our favorite lines of Christmas songs. (Yes, the discussion will also include post-it notes. . .)
Here are two of my favorite lines:
Born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.
All of our sadness here will come untrue.
The first, originally found in “Hark, the Herald Angels,” is woven with the second in a new song from 2020, “Advent Gloria,” written in 2020 by Ryan Foglesong, Jon Althoff & Grace Nixon. Take a listen:
What lyric draws you into the wonder of Jesus’ birth?
“Maker of Mary now Mary’s Son” gets me…Sing We The Song of Emmanuel!
