Exploring the World of John Newton

So you want to know more about my friend, John Newton. I have made no secret of my appreciation for his letters and the impact they have have had on my thinking. 365 Days with Newton. A collection of daily readings from unpublished sermons and writings of John Newton.

Beyond Amazing Grace: Timeless Pastoral Counsel from the Letters, Hymns, and Sermons of John Newton by J. Todd Murray.

Amazing Grace: The Inspirational Stories of William Wilberforce, John Newton, and Olaudah Equiano. Radio Drama from Focus on the Family. (Parents should listen first to be ready to prepare their kids for these stories.)

The Works of John Newton, 4 volumes from Banner of Truth Trust. For the intrepid reader with good eyes. I am going to be starting volume two soon–with new reading glasses after a year in volume one. . .

Cowper Newton Museum. Great little museum housed in William Cowper’s house in Olney, England, about 90 miles north of London. Daily thoughts and pictures on their twitter feed. Well worth the time if you get the chance!!!! Newton is buried in the churchyard there, and several stained glass windows in the church commemorate his ministry.
