Tim Challies has published a new devotional book called Understanding and Trusting Our Great God, available on Amazon and 10ofthose. This beautiful text follows in the same vein as his 2021 book Knowing and Enjoying God. Each entry in these two books in the “Words from the Wise” series incorporates a thought-provoking quote from wise pastor, hymnodist, theologian, missionary, or writer and is designed with lovely photography. The quotes are followed by a short devotional written by Tim. Themes of God’s character are explored, including His wisdom, justice, and goodness.

When I prepare for women’s retreats, the committees often ask for book recommendations to give to the ladies in attendance. This book and its predecessor make a lovely gift set that can be appreciated by whoever picks them up.
